The following is a list of audition pieces for the All Cape and Islands Festival.  For more information, please go to the Southeast District website

Guidelines:  We use the Massachusetts Music Educator’s Southeastern District list as the basis for our audition music each November.  The lists are available in June of the summer before auditions.  Please check their website often as pieces do change occasionally.

Required Music:

  1. Instrumental students may choose either the junior of the senior SE piece, however there will be a point loss for performing the easier  junior piece.

  2. Although judges will only hear a portion, students must be able to perform the entire audition piece as well as the required scales and sight reading (singing).

  3. Teachers should not send students that are unable to complete the audition or meet the scale and sight reading requirements.

  4. Students must bring an original copy of the music on which they audition.

  5. Percussionist will NOT be required to perform the multi-percussion piece as required by South East District.

All-Cape Jazz Auditions: Feb. 15

The audition piece is “Billie’s Bounce”.  It can be found from the Volume 6 Charlie Parker All Bird book by Jamey Aebersold.  The piece is for all instruments (expect drum set).  This is a slight change from what is posted for Junior Jazz. Drummers will play "Exercise 6", from Progressive Steps for the Modern Drummer, Ted Reed: Alfred Music #17308.
