The Falmouth Band Parents Association exists to provide support for the members of the Falmouth Public Schools Band - both students and their families. It allows for band members and their families to communicate with the band director and each other.

Annual fundraisers are held to assist the program needs. Our organization is always looking for new fundraising ideas, grant ideas, donations and benefactors.

Please email Steven Edwards at sedwards@falmouth.k12.ma.us should you have any questions.
Please contact Jan Souweine at jan104@aol.com if you are interested in assisting our cause or you would like more information as to joining our organization.

We hope you have all had a great summer. We are very excited about the coming year. The Marching Band has kicked off their new season with selections from the hit series "glee" and the music can be heard by following the link below.

http://www.avbundle.com/account_login.php?fieldID=189 (Just copy and paste this link into your browser, Log In as new user, it's free and click on the songs.)

Please remember to officially sign up for "Marching Band" or "Band Front" with the guidance department at FHS in order to recieve the two elective credits. Credtis do NOT apply to 8th graders.

Be sure to check your school schedule and make sure your performing music class is in there. If there are any concerns, just check with the guidance department and please follow-up with Mr. Edwards.

This year marks a trip year for the instrumental ensembles so parents and students can benefit from participating in the various fundraisers. Participation in the fundraisers will earn POINTS that turn into cash for each student participating in the trip. We kick off the year with the British Car Show in Falmouth followed by the Concession Stand at home Football games at Fuller Field. Additionally we will be hosting the All-Cape Music Auditions at FHS again this year and running our annual Poinsettias Sale, Christmas Tree Pick-Up and Fruit Sale. So please lend a hand and earn some points to off-set the cost of the trip. It's fun and supports our programs!

FHS Wins the SMARTMusic Sweepstakes! PDF Print E-mail
Written by Steve Edwards

Good news!!! We won the "Brass & Woodwinds" SMARTMusic Giveaway sweepstakes and that means that we have been given 20 student subscriptions (CD's and microphones) ($30 ea.) for a year and one Teacher subscription ($130) for a year. I have spoken to Mr. Johnson and he and I will only need 8 of them. I would like to share the rest with Lawrence and Morse Pond.

Students can download SMARTMusic to their computers at home for the student rate per year and begin to practice selected literature for their ensemble.

I am very excited about this opportunity. It will really help our students achieve quality home study skills, supports the 21st Century Education movement in our schools, it's cost effective and it's fun to use.

I have linked below a very short video explaining how it works.
http://www.smartmusic.com/SmartMusic/Videos.aspx Please click on the "Parents & Students" video.

I hope you will consider using this software as a supplemental resource for music practice.
